- Obaveza: must i have to
- Oba znače „moram“: „You must wear safety goggles in the lab.“, „We have to hand in the project on Monday.“ Za he / she kažemo has to („Ana has to feed the hamster.“), a must se ne menja („She must wash the test tubes.“).
- Zabrana: mustn't
- Mustn't = ne smeš, zabranjeno je: „You mustn't eat or drink in the lab.“, „Students mustn't use the lift without a teacher.“
- Nije potrebno: don't have to
- Don't / doesn't have to = ne moraš, ali smeš: „You don't have to bring a lab coat — there are coats in the cupboard.“, „Luka doesn't have to come, but he can.“ Pazi: mustn't i don't have to znače nešto sasvim različito!
- Savet: should i shouldn't
- Should = bilo bi dobro (savet), a must i have to = obavezno: „You should sleep at least nine hours.“, „You shouldn't carry such a heavy backpack.“
