Odnosne rečenice koje kažu o kome ili o čemu govorimo: who (ili that) za ljude, which (ili that) za stvari i životinje, where za mesta, when za vreme; odnosna zamenica kao subjekat (the girl who helped me) ili objekat (the girl I helped — tada može da se izostavi); nikad what posle imenice.

- „The present that I need is a new charger.“ — ne „the present what I need“. Posle imenice ide who, which ili that.
